It needs to be complete not to be perfect.

Have you ever planned something to finish but you didn’t start? Or do you keep planning for a week and still don’t have the confidence to start?

Have you ever asked yourself, what is the reason you don’t start?

Is it fear, procrastination, or imposter syndrome?

If you ask me, has it ever happened to me? The answer is a big yes, many times. Even you can say the reason behind writing on this topic as my 1st blog post is to help you to get rid of any fear because it is curable and all you need is self-consciousness and strong willpower.

By going through the whole blog you will be able to recognize and eliminate all those reasons which stop you from taking the 1st baby step through which you can achieve your desired goal be it writing a small article or starting a million-dollar business.

So let’s dive into deep, what are the reasons and how to address them at their core.

The 1st reason is perfectionism, you wait for the perfect time when you become a pro in any skill then you will take action. Despite having the required education, experience and accomplishments you doubt your ability to do certain things. Psychologists associate it with imposter syndrome.

How to address it? You evolve through the process so start taking action. For example, if you wanna be a pro writer or dancer you have to learn and practice small steps and constantly keep improving yourself. Don’t start anything to make it perfect, start to complete it.

The 2nd reason is fear of failure, sometimes what happens even before starting your work you consciously or unconsciously start visualizing failure and this stops you from starting or taking 1st step. If you start working on your goal there is a possibility that you may fail but think about what would happen if you don’t start, where you will go? The answer is nowhere.

.How to overcome the fear of failure? to reach somewhere you have to start walking otherwise you would stay stuck at the same place.

I would suggest you, train your mind to see the brighter side of the picture instead of focusing on the darker side. Visualize success instead of failure and to do this you must set realistic goals and start taking action

3rd Setting unrealistic goals,  having unachievable goals could be a major roadblock for taking 1st step towards success. What happens when you set unrealistic goals? you subconsciously accept that it is unachievable and it works as a hurdle to take action.

Now how to address this problem? Set a measured achievable goal. Think before setting any goal, do you have the required skill set, and resources then start taking action, keep putting one by one brisk on cement, and soon there will be a big wall.

4th, having unclear goals:  if you don’t know where to go you feel suspicious to start working on any project. To reach somewhere you must have a defined destination.

To address this problem, the answer is very simple: set a clear goal with a timeline and start working on it. According to a famous philosopher Dr. Gunsaulus, definiteness of purpose is the starting point to succeed in life.

5th is the absence of a solid motivation, sometimes what stops you to start is a lack of solid motivation, for example, reading books on different topics could widen your perspective towards life. And you could be a better person in reading people as well as reading situations and having better decision making capability. But these reasons are not enough for someone who is not fond of reading.

How to have a solid motivation? Write some affirmation just like a mantra and keep repeating that. Visualize the end goal and its benefit. Envision how your personal, professional, social life would be different with a conquered goal and get started that’s all. One more thing: reward yourself with each conquered goal.

The 6th factor which is a hurdle in starting up is low self-control. Ask yourself, are you that person who is easily distracted? In my case, I can say yes sometimes I used to jump from reading this book to that book. But now whenever I set out to read I just set with the intention that at this time I have to read only this book and at the table, I keep only that particular book which I have to read.  There is a saying that if you don’t control your mind your mind controls you.

To nullify this problem, be an internally driven or self-driven person. Don’t let the outer world control you for that you can practice yoga, meditation. Set priority and stay determined until you complete your task. And with each achieved task or goal your efficiency, as well as your confidence, will also skyrocket.

The 7th factor is self-doubt. You can say self-doubt is the heinous murder of beautiful dreams. So don’t let self-doubt kill your dream. According to the author of the book “the power of your subconscious mind” Joseph Murphy, a human mind has infinite power to achieve any dream. so go after your consciously set goal without any limiting belief. No one is born successful or perfect and every individual possesses the potential to become the master of his destiny.

How to defeat self-doubt?  Napoleon Hill in his international bestseller book “ think and grow rich” stated that perfection will come through practice. This means you become a master in your desired field only through the right persistent effort so to kill self-doubt to start anything by

  • Keep working on your skillset
  • Keep affirming yourself that you are enough
  • You can do anything on which you set your mind for

Then start taking those baby steps for your desired endeavor be it business or having a morning routine.

To sum up:

  • Let go of all negative thoughts which prevent you from taking that baby step.
  • Keep affirming that you are enough.
  • Keep enhancing your professional as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Always set short crisp goals with a timeline.
  • Keep rewarding yourself with each achieved goal.
  • Develop the habit of clapping for yourself.
  • Gain inner strength and focus through yoga, meditation, and mindfulness.
  • Last but not least, start taking those baby steps, get started.
